Purpose: The data was collected by scanning and digitizing the Residential Land Use map (Figure 13) from page 30 of the Metropolitan Land Study prepared by the Metropolitan Planning Commission in April 1960, so that it is available in digital form and may be used as a historical reference layer in GIS.

Time Period of Content Date: 1959

Currentness Reference: Date the data collected for the 1959 land use is on the map.

Progress: Complete

Maintenance and Update Frequency: None Planned

Spatial Extent of Data: Portion of Twin Cities 7 County Metropolitan Area defined by the study area. This includes the counties of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington in Minnesota.

Section 2: Data Quality

Attribute Accuracy: Unknown

Logical Consistency: The dataset is topologically 'clean'.

Completeness: A portion of the seven county geographic area is covered, as defined by the study area on the original map.

Horizontal Positional Accuracy: The positional accuracy of the dataset has not been tested under the National Standards for Spatial Data Accuracy.

Lineage: Original Data for the Residential Land Use map (Fig 13) from the Metropolitan Land Study, 4/1960, showing 1945 and 1959 residential land use was collected from 1945 aerial photographs and 1958 aerial photographs updated with field checks in 1959.

The digital data was collected by scanning and digitizing the Residential Land Use map (Figure 13) from page 30 of the Metropolitan Land Study prepared by the Metropolitan Planning Commission in April 1960.
